Paying Bills

It is important to know what bills you receive and when to expect them.

Tips for keeping on top of your bills

•    Get a calendar and mark on the calendar the due dates for your bills.

•    Set reminders on your mobile phone.

•    You can estimate your future bills based on the last bill you received. But keep in mind that in winter you generally use more electricity and gas.

•    Work out how much you need to put aside each week to cover these bills.

Phone bills

Phone bills, especially mobile phone bills, can be one of your major expenses.

Tips on keeping on top of phone bills

•    Do your research. Know what each call and text message is costing you, and the off-peak times when it is cheaper to make a call.

•    Be sure that you are on the right plan for you.

Late bills

You can take control of a situation that may have gotten out of hand. It may be stressful but don’t worry. You can fix it.

The first thing you need do is contact the credit provider, phone, gas or electricity company using the number you find on your bill. It is often easier to make a phonecall than to visit them. Let them know your situation and that you are having trouble paying on time. They will be able to negotiate a new payment plan for you that is affordable.
