What Should I Study?

There are so many courses on offer – your head may be spinning!

Boggled by your choices?

The best way through this confusion it to do your research into the courses or areas that interest you.

A couple of days of asking questions may spare you a whole semester of disappointment!

Ways to research:

•    Ask to see a careers counsellor while you are still at school.

•    Attend open days.

•    Try and talk to students who are already in the course.

•    Look up course profiles by visiting university and TAFE websites and clicking on “courses”.

•    Find out how much time per week is required face to face and in private study.

Course Profiles

By visiting the website of the higher education institution you are interested in you will find:

•    A course description, teaching staff (lecturers, tutors) and their contact details.

•    Course aims and learning objectives.

•    Required and recommended resources (texts, materials or useful websites).

•    Learning activities (lectures, tutorials, pracs, field trips)

•    Assessment items and due dates.

•    University policies, and school and course guidelines.

This information is extremely useful for you to make the most informed choice you can.
