Australia has two private universities and many other private colleges offering degree and diploma courses. One of the main benefits of private education providers is that they do not give as much weight to Tertiary Entrance scores as other universities and TAFEs.
The downside is that they charge you for it!
For example, if you were an aspiring hotel manager, you could chose from one of eight private colleges or hotel schools around Australia. The fees may be around $12 000 a semester and often you will be required to pay up-front.
Financial Assistance - FEE-HELP
You can access some financial assistance. You may be eligible for FEE-HELP, a government loan to cover some of the cost of your education. In addition, some Commonwealth-funded places have been allocated in fields of study identified as national priorities such as teaching and nursing, cutting the cost of some courses significantly.
