Accomodation
You can find assistance finding accommodation through the accommodation office or student services at your chosen institution.
Some of the options you have are:
• Homestay: Living with another family where meals and other services may be provided.
• Rented housing: Find accommodation with other students through campus noticeboards or through the accommodation office on campus. You will still have to find the money for electricity, gas and telephone as well as the rent bond.
• Colleges/halls of residence: Most universities offer on-campus accommodation. They are usually fairly expensive but provide food, accommodation, sporting and social facilities as well as libraries.
Food
Eating on campus is usually cheaper as many on-campus outlets are subsidised by the student union.
Textbooks
Buying textbooks can leave a big hole in your pocket. You are wise to find second-hand bookshops that specialise in used textbooks or look out on campus noticeboards for other student selling their textbooks. A cheaper option is to use the library on campus.
